Movie Review: Valkyrie

The other day, I my friends and I decided to see the WWII thriller Valkyrie. The plot is simple: a bunch of Nazi military/political members conspire to assassinate their leader Adolf Hitler for his crimes against humanity and end WWII. And the person playing the lead role as Colonel Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenburg is non other than Tom Cruise...... He speaks one line of German in the beginning of the film and that's it. Everyone else in the film besides Cruise are British actors. Besides the strange choice of actors, the film provides a very interesting yet true story in history. If you know anything about WWII history, then you know that Hitler lived all the way to the end of the war until he committed suicide. Though many attempts (15 known attempts) tried to take his life, non succeeded. Essentially, this movie plays out the last assault on Hitler's life. So I went into this film already knowing the ending, Hitler lives. But if you don't know anything about history, then this movie would make you believe they killed Hitler because the execution of this film's plot kept me on the edge of my seat. Tension was consistantly building as I kept guessing what was next, even though I knew the outcome. Don't expect much action even though I mentioned it was WWII (sorry Saving Private Ryan fans). I left this movie wondering what may have happened if Hitler was actually killed in real life and how many lives could've been saved.

In the end, The casting for actors was a bit of a shame but the film's execution was brilliant. I give this movie a 7 out of 10. Check it out history fans.

Marley and Me review

Marley and Me, with Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson
For those of you who don't know this movie, it is about the worlds worst dog, Marley.I went in the movie with an open mind and tried to forget that I read the book. You know cause people are always stupid and say the book was better than the movie. Well, me with my cleared mind took the venture and tried to accept this movie as another piece of art. Here is what I came up with. Starts out and makes you feel bad. In the middle, it makes you feel bad. At the end, it makes you feel bad. Total conclusion, its one hell of a depressing movie. And since it is a dog movie, you can guess how it will end. So anyway, when it came to the ending, they resulted to flashbacks of Marley and his wacky antics and then scenes of the main characters crying. All of this in a disappointing attempt to make the whole theater flood with tears. Well surprisingly, it worked for more than half of the old women in the audience. Overall, it didn't follow a consistent story line and had barely any of the humor the book had. The humor they could have had wasn't executed well at all and lost all effect. So looking back on it, I have to give this a 4 out of 10. And unfortunately I left the theater saying,
"The book was soooo much better than the movie."

Wait No Longer

Conspiracy - Episode 5: "Ultimatum Part II" is now available (look up).

Also, we would like to take this opportunity to announce that we will be postponing the remaining three episodes for a few months. The focus of Infinity Films has been on "Conspiracy" for a while now, so we are taking a small break in order to work on a few other films (like Mapleville, which Max has so willingly described below).

Be sure to check out our new projects when they are released, and thank you for supporting us!

Pre-production For Mapleville

I've been hounded by the rest of the crew for not posting anything on this blog, so finally I am posting something. Slowly but surely we are working on our next production Mapleville. From prop-making, to set scouting this has been one of the slowest but most official pre-productions Infinity has ever beheld. In fact today, two of us were scouting future sets for Mapleville. It didn't end well for the fact that it started to rain and we were somewhat lost in the woods. Not to worry, we made it out ok. Anyways, pre-production for this movie is going along and its sure to be a fantastic short film that we are hoping to submit into a local movie competition in the near future. Stay tuned for more information about this thrilling movie.

Yes Man Review

So the newest Jim Carrey movie "YES MAN" recently came out in theaters. I took this as an opportunity to get out of watching "BOLT" in 3-D and instead push to go see this movie. Previous commercials and articles set the movie up to be one of those movies where you really don't need to see it, as long as you watch the commercials. AND I must say.......... It's totally correct. If you have seen any of the "YES MAN" movie trailers, then do not worry about wasting your money to go see it. All you really need to do is add in a cheesy love plot between Jim Carrey and Zooey Deschanel and you have a holiday blockbuster.
Another thing worth noting is that, many of Jim Carrey's movies invlove him going into one of his raging comedy splints that really only works for the 4-year- olds in the audience.
For example:
THE MASK
ACE VENTURA
TRUMAN SHOW
BRUCE ALMIGHTY
HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS
well ok, most of his movies invlove that, besides THE NUMBER 23. BUT as a relief to me, he managed to calm down his 4-year-old temptations and really bring in meaningness to the movie and let the other characters take some of that comedic light. Overall, you don't need to go see this movie, but IF you see it in a $5 discount bin in a year or two, go ahead and get it. It's worth a laugh. (plus you can probably find it online if you looked for it)
FINAL SCORE: 5/10
